anniversary trip to portland
Before our great move across the country Ted and I wanted a chance to celebrate our 10th anniversary with just the two of us. We hadn't traveled together since before having kids, so it felt extra special getting to fly a plane with just US! My parents watched the kids and we spent a few days in Portland, Oregon eating lots of food and buying books.
We visited Powell's Books a total of 3 times and brought home 14 new books, eeeek! But, are you really surprised? It was funny because I had a friend of mine ask if Portland would be a fun place to visit with her husband because they ~don't love visiting bookstores. I laughed, and said "Of course!"
Some of our favorite things we did, other than buy books, was visit the International Rose Garden, visit Multnomah Falls, spend the day at Cannon Beach and take a road trip to Seattle just to have the best clam chowder of all time. Seriously, the long hours on the road were worth it, haha!
Of our favorite restaurants, we loved The Screen Door, and Lovely's 50/50. We also went to Pok Pok, and while it was pretty good, we found it a bit pricey for lunch and overall overhyped. We finally tried Salt and Straw and we think maybe we just were there on a dud day because the flavor options weren't stellar. I'd take Jeni's any day over Salt and Straw!
Overall we had a great trip and loved being the Pacific Northwest, even if it was during a heat wave, woof!
