celebrating on the fourth

We had a great time celebrating the 4th of July with my parents here in Tucson. They came up the day before and we went to the Davis-Monthan fireworks show together. My parents had never experienced a base show before and they loved it. They really do a great job on the fireworks and it always feels a little more special being on a military base when celebrating our independence.

On the 4th we went to our church pancake breakfast, despite my many suggestions that we just go to Cozy Corner Cafe instead. When there were no breakfast meats to be had, namely bacon, I think everyone realized I am the superior member of the family with always the best plans and suggestions. Lesson learned, I guess! The only lesson I learned here was that no one ever listens to me, haha.

After the party we came home and lit some different kinds of sparklers and then went and got ice cream at the Screamery, since it's basically a requirement every time my parents come into town. I think they will really miss the "ooey gooey buttercake" when we move to DC and have no reason to come to Tucson anymore.

My parents left in the afternoon, so we decided to go to the theater and see Jurassic World. Listen, that movie is a piece of garbage. Ted thought even if it was dumb we'd still have a good time making fun of it, but it was so dumb I couldn't even have fun. I was mostly annoyed we wasted money on it, haha! Basically, don't go see it.
