weekend in nashville
A couple of weeks ago I felt an urgency to go visit my dear friend Marci in Nashville. I knew that we would soon be in a position where Ted couldn't take time off work and I wouldn't be able to travel to see my friends for a long while. I hadn't visited Marci since 2015 and was so excited to get back to her beautiful state!
I flew out on Friday morning and was lucky enough to not have to sit by anyone on both of the flights it took to get to Nashville. This was ideal for me as I hate talking to people. I was able to read a glorious new book and even though it was about a murder, the only word that comes to mind when thinking about it, is cozy. I have problems, it's fine.
We spent Friday talking nonstop, which is my favorite thing about us. There is never a shortage on conversation and it's wonderful. I got to try my first Tennessee "hot chicken" sandwich, and that was good times. After dinner we went to McKay's used book store and I picked out a couple books to add to the already ridiculous stack I brought along in my suitcase. I'm ridiculous. That evening I got Marci to watch the first episode of Anne with an E, resulting in a spiral of watching the entire first season in a 48 hour period, haha!
Saturday started off with breakfast at Proper Bagel. I don't think I've ever seen so many varieties of cream cheese before. So, it was basically heaven.
We then went to Parnassus, a must-see independent bookstore that houses the cutest book shop dog. I picked out Kasie West's newest book and a Lord of the Rings book pin for Ted.
After Parnassus we got pedicures, and I'm pretty sure I traumatized my male nail tech because I totally forgot to shave my legs prior to said pedicure, haha. Then we were off to see Ant-man and the Wasp! I loved the first Ant-man and enjoyed this one even more. Paul Rudd is a national treasure. DID YOU KNOW HE'S 49? I have a hard time computing this when I am 30 and have more wrinkles than him. I'd say "it's fine" but it's really not.
After the movie we went and got Jeni's which was basically a spiritual experience for me as I have dreamt about brambleberry crisp ice cream for almost 3 years now. Have I mentioned yet that Marci is an excellent host? She's an excellent host.
The evening brought dinner at Burger Up and then many episodes of Anne with an E, of course.
On my last morning we went to Radnor Lake to walk the walking trail that Marci' loves. I couldn't get over how beautiful it was and the loud singing of the bugs and birds! The forest seriously hummed and I couldn't believe it.
We finished out the trip with brunch at The Old School, which is a farm to table restaurant. We definitely ordered more than we could eat but it was such a wonderful, leisurely meal to share together before I had to leave.
I love spending time with people that I love that uplift me and make me want to be a better human. What a beautiful weekend! I feel much more refreshed and ready to tackle anything.
