First Snow

A lot has happened on this here blog since I last posted. For one, we are adding a baby to our family in just 3 short months! This pregnancy has been so hard! Understatement of the year! But, maybe that's a good excuse for letting some things fall to the wayside like blogging.

Of course, we also made our move to the DC area. We settled in a suburb outside of the bustling city and for the most part we are happy here. We are close to a lot of things and we have a lake that runs right up to our house. It's been fun exploring and seeing new things in a completely different climate.

I'm still homeschooling and loving it, and planning on documenting more this year. With pregnancy fatigue I've had to be a lot more chill about things and not do as awesome of activities, but I've found the kids just love learning and having me involved. Sometimes I see homeschool moms posting these elaborately thought out activities for their kids and feel a pang of disappointment in myself, but then I have to give myself a reality check that I'm doing the best that I can. It's definitely been a humbling experience.

Back in November we had our first snow! It was so magical to wake up and see tons of snow falling outside of my window, and also hear the kids squealing with delight. Having been their first time in snow we hurried and bundled up so they could play before the snow got dirty and gross. What a magical morning for them! I emphasize ~them~ because I do not like the snow and do not like being cold, haha! We haven't had snow since November but we expect more this week. Great.

As for the new year and goals, I don't really have any! This is the first year I'm starting a year off with zero expectations. I'm very nervous about having a third baby, which is probably why I have done zero prep for said baby. I should probably do some.  I'm just trying to be very zen about how this year will go and hopefully I will be pleasantly surprised. I do have a goal to read 50 books like I did last year, and I look forward to more scripture study as a family with the new Come Follow Me curriculum. I also plan to continue practicing Intuitive Eating and have found that following the weekly challenges that Tiffany Roe of Mindful Counseling sends out have been so beneficial for my mental health!
