What I read last week

I set a goal to read 50 books this year, and I'm already on book 8. I thought it would be cool to recap the books I read each week on the blog in case anyone needs a recommendation or what to steer clear of.

Eligible by Curtis Sittenfeld - This is a modern retelling of Pride and Prejudice and was quite enjoyable. It had mixed reviews on goodreads, and I can see why it wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea. It can be crude at times and for those that I are Austen purists, it may feel a little too modern. There were a few things I didn't like about it, but all in all, I really liked it and couldn't put it down, even when I knew how things would turn out! 4 stars

Open Road Summer by Emery Lord - I love Emery Lord and everything she writes. This was the only one of her books I hadn't read and it didn't disappoint. This story was about two best friends, one being a famous country singer (much like Taylor Swift in appearance and songwriting) touring the country over the summer. While I liked this book a lot and would definitely read it again, I felt it was Emery's weakest book. All in all, a great beach read! 3.5 stars

Once and For All by Sarah Dessen - Again, I love Sarah Dessen and own all of her books. Once and For All is her newest book and I'm sad to say I was disappointed by it! I just didn't buy the chemistry between the two main characters. I did love her friendships and her back story which redeemed the story in my opinion. 3 stars
